The Lost People: February James Navigates Owning and Disowning Self In Her Paintings

February James is an artist from Washington DC, who lives and works in Los Angeles, CA. Her aim is to hopefully bring about dialogues that externalize and objectifies our beliefs and values.
Her project, The Lost People is a convergence of interest surrounding identity “I know what it’s like to be lost. what it feels like. I would like to think that we all know what it’s like to feel lost at some juncture in the crashing points of our lives. I believe we come to each other rather intuitively and in just the same fashion we waft away; like vapor. like our new selves, disowning our former selves. each one of us feeding on the others needs – people collecting people. then somehow we meet again and I find them in my paintings and instinctively move through mediums.
these are the lost people, only the names have been changed to protect the innocent.”
