Every single day we witness the world changing rapidly: women are finding their voices, they are becoming more supportive of each other, they find the courage to speak up against injustice and to talk openly about what’s important to them. Yes, the world we live in today is much different than the world our mothers and grandmother lived in. Still, some things never change: there always was and always will be Her Royal Highness – makeup. While some believe that women use makeup to cover their insecurities, we’re here to point out how even minimalist makeup can reshape the way women see themselves.
Lets your skin breathe
In order to look good with makeup, with minimalist makeup, or without any makeup at all, you need to have great skin. Sadly, very few of us have been blessed with great skin so we try to compensate with makeup. This routine, in turn, makes our skin look even duller and forces us to apply more concealer and/or blush. When you’re wearing less makeup, you’re letting your skin breathe and giving it plenty of time to soak in some sun and regenerate. As a result, you won’t even have to wear as much makeup as before because your skin will recover and glow.

Minimalist Makeup Saves you time
Let’s face it – applying makeup takes time, especially if you’re going for that ‘full-face’ makeup look with primer, foundation, concealer, highlighter, bronzer, blush, and contouring. Even girls with a lot of practice and experience can tell you that it’s hard work and that it takes a lot of practice. Instead of several coats of mascara, you can find eyelash extension deals that suit you and have amazing lashes without any effort, instead of blending different lipsticks you can use tinted lip balm, and a touch of eyeliner will make your eyes pop even without eyeshadow. Minimalist makeup will save you a lot of time because you won’t have to apply so many products, and you’ll also remove the makeup at the end of the day easily.
You’ll look younger
Every now and then we all like to rock that dramatic look with a smokey eye, false lashes, bold lipstick, and winged eyeliner because it made us feel like movie stars. As glamorous as this may seem at times, it’s exhausting to wear it every day, and what is more, such makeup can actually make you look older than you are. When you look natural, you’ll feel better and more confident, and this energy will make you both feel and look younger. This is something people around you won’t help but notice.
You’ll learn to improvise
When you’re not using too many beauty products, you soon learn to work with what you have and to improvise if need be. As it turns out, simple shimmery eyeshadow can double as a highlighter when you apply it to the bridge of your nose or on your cheekbone, and liquid lipsticks can look as good as any eyeliner if you apply the product carefully. You don’t need to have a ton of different lipsticks, eyeliners, and eyeshadows – if you know your way around the products you usually use, you’ll be good to go.
Changes the way you feel
While there are women who love wearing makeup every day, there are also women who don’t, and that’s perfectly fine. Nobody should wear makeup if they don’t want to, and thankfully, nobody needs to in this day and age. On the other hand, sometimes very little can go a long way and change the way you feel. If you have dark circles, scars or blemishes on your face, simple BB cream will cover them and make you look fresh and well-rested. Also, a touch of lipstick will make you smile more just as that perfectly winged eyeliner will make you feel like you’re ready to take over the world.
Lets you accept yourself
Whether we like it or not, we aren’t getting any younger (nobody likes to be reminded of that, mind you), and makeup helps us these signs of aging pretty well in the beginning. Sadly, nothing can stay hidden forever, and sooner or later wrinkles are going to show as well as those gray hairs. If you’re used to covering any signs of aging with heavy makeup obsessively, once you notice them you’ll be devastated. Minimalist makeup, on the other hand, allows you to see yourself a bit better and to accept the way you look, not hide it. Dark circles and blemishes can be hidden with minimalist makeup for sure, but when you don’t put too much makeup on, you’ll get a chance to accept yourself just the way you are.
Makeup is a form of art, and men and women all over the world are investing a lot of time and money to become the best makeup, artists. Don’t shy away from using makeup as it’s a great form of self-expression, but don’t be afraid to wear minimalist makeup also. Not only will it save you a lot of time every morning (and evening), but it will keep your skin healthy, and it will help you become more confident in the long run.
