Sharjah International Award for Refugee Advocacy 2023

The Big Heart Foundation (TBHF) wants to give back to organizations that help improve the lives of refugees through the 7th edition of the Sharjah International Award for Refugee Advocacy & Support (SIARA).

In collaboration with UNHCR, SIARA 2023 will award one organization with a cash prize of AED500,000 ($136,130) to use in enhancing their refugee initiative’s and broaden their reach within the community.

Our Why

TBHF envisions a world where vulnerable people are protected and empowered to live with dignity. To achieve its goals, the Foundation administers grants through a competitive application process to qualified implementing partners. She also advocates for vulnerable persons to push policy changes and convenes global humanitarian actors to inspire sustainable solutions. These solutions are designed to always place women and children at the center of its activities.

About the Award

Launched under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Alqasimi, The Sharjah International Award is organized by The Big Heart Foundationo. They also collaboration with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to achieve their goals.

This award aims to highlight and support outstanding efforts and initiatives that improve the lives of millions of individuals and families who have been displaced from home due to natural disasters or war. The award also focuses on bringing increased awareness to refugee issues within the Middle East, Africa, and Asia regions. In addition, it will help recognize distinguished services by organizations in support of the forcibly displaced.

What You can do

Help us by nominating organizations that you know, and love. Also, those that have gone above and beyond in their mission to improve the realities of refugees.

Who can be nominated

Nominated organizations must operate in Africa, Asia, or the Middle-East, and should be involved in improving the lives of refugees at a grassroots level. These would include direct aid, advocacy, social support, and creative initiatives.
