Nest is excited to announce the 2024 Heritage Craft Prize will celebrate Women of the West!

Women and non-binary makers, artists, and craftspeople located in Wyoming, Nevada, Idaho, New Mexico, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, California, Arizona, Utah, Oklahoma, and Montana are encouraged to enter a submission that demonstrates their technical mastery, craft as well as a thoughtful connection to cultural tradition through a singular, one-of-a-kind handcrafted piece.

Intended to provide finalists with financial resources to advance their craft pursuits and/or craft-based business, the winner will receive a grant of $25,000 and four semi-finalists will receive a cash prize of $2,500 each.

Who We Are

Nest is resolute in our commitment to provide artisan business leaders and creative entrepreneurs with the training, tools, and resources they need to grow and strengthen their businesses so they can be a steady source of employment in their communities. 

Eligibility
To be eligible applicants must:
1. Represent heritage craft found across the West which includes (but is not limited to) various techniques such as sewing, beading, ceramics, metalworking, jewelry-making, woodworking, printmaking, silversmithing, textile weaving, natural dyeing, leatherworking, and more

2. Be an original, one-of-a-kind handmade work

3.Be a woman or non-binary maker/artist located in Wyoming, Nevada, Idaho, New Mexico, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, California, Arizona, Utah, Oklahoma or Montana

4. Have a clearly defined connection or narrative of cultural preservation and/or generational story to the work being produced

5. Not have previously won a prize

6. Be able to attend an exclusive Nest event in Jackson, Wyoming from Wednesday, September 11th- Saturday, September 14th where the craft prize winner will be announced

Deadline
Submissions are due by Monday, August 5. Judging will take place in early August with the announcement of selected finalists by mid-August
