The Training Specialist will work collaboratively with the ASAP staff team to prepare training materials, market trainings, and plan and execute training event logistics.
As a training specialist, you will be a critical part of the ASAP team, working to increase the quality of climate change adaptation practice across sectors and scales in North America. You will achieve this will by designing and delivering climate change adaptation training for a diverse set of audiences.
ASAP trainings covers areas such as Principles of Quality Climate Change Adaptation, Funding and Finance for Local Governments, and Private Sector Climate Service Provider Academy design new trainings with partners from the public, private, nonprofit, and academic sectors.

Applicants interested in either full-time or part-time work are encouraged to apply. The full-time salary range for this position is $62,000-68,000 annually and includes a generous benefits package. Location is U.S. based, but otherwise flexible. This position reports to the ASAP Program Manager.
What You Will Do

Plan and deliver existing ASAP training and education programs including: Principles of Quality Climate Change Adaptation, Funding and Finance for Local Governments, and Climate Data and Information for Your Region.

Adapt ASAP training design, content, and materials to meet the needs of partners.

Use ASAP’s professional guidance resources and ASAP member expertise to design and update curriculum arcs, learning objectives, content, and materials for existing and new training programs and modules.

Work collaboratively with ASAP staff and partners to assess training needs, resources, and gaps for a variety of populations across the climate adaptation field.

Recruit and prepare expert speakers for trainings.

Work collaboratively with ASAP staff to execute logistics for virtual and in person trainings and monitor and evaluate training outcomes.

Work collaboratively with the ASAP Communications Team to recruit training participants and disseminate training materials to ASAP’s general audience.

Ability to explain climate change adaptation and climate resilience concepts to a variety of audiences.

Experience designing and implementing virtual or in-person training programs.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Ability to manage time, remain organized, and pay attention to details.

Proficiency in Google Suite (GMail, Google Hangouts, and Google Calendar).

Ability to use video and audio calling, text, email, and digital calendar to connect and communicate across a remote team.
