THE PROJECT MANAGER PACKAGE DESCRIPTION
This is a Fixed term contract – likely to end early in May 2026.
Salary: £55,000 – £70,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience plus London Weighting Allowance £5,319 and 15% bonus. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
Location: Office Base is London TVC.
This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office working with home working.

ABOUT THE BUSINESS OPERATIONS TEAM
The Business Operations team in Global Media & Streaming is based in the UK and focusses on commercial projects associated with [redacted], monetisation of the BBC News channel (ex UK), and new business initiatives which contribute to the commercial ambitions of the EMEA region. The team partners with business leaders and colleagues in both BBC Studios and the wider BBC group and our goals connect directly with Studios growth ambitions. We align closely with the Studios Transformation Team on professional capabilities, project delivery methodologies, tools, templates etc.
THE ROLE
The Lead Project Manager reports to and works closely with the Head of Business and will focus on a portfolio of projects including channel delivery (including FAST channels), BBC Player in various territories, and ‘Out of Home’ initiatives). The successful candidate will also work on projects which commercialise the BBC News channel outside the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Head of Business to assess the portfolio of initiatives from the various teams in the business, put in place the requisite project management frameworks to ensure the projects are robustly established, including accurate and effective project delivery plans and track delivery to completion.
Ensure the formal handover of project deliverables and capabilities with their enablement of business change and benefits realisation.
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the project management discipline as well as developments in the media/broadcasting sector.
Create and progress against appropriately detailed plans e.g. project management plans (PMP), ensure achievability, stakeholder buy-in and support for the business.
Coordinate with professional functions to provide an approach that includes all factors pertinent to the project success e.g. legal, commercial, financial, health and safety, operations.
Identify and where appropriate secure and assign the capabilities, experience and resources for the project.
To be accountable for the outcomes of the projects. This will include managing the performance of the assigned resources (including contractors or third party suppliers).
Where relevant, ensure robust management of supply chain through procurement, negotiation and commercial agreement, implementation and smooth transition to business operations.
Plan for project reviews and ensure that the lessons learnt are implemented. The role will have not have direct reports, but will require leadership skills and provide support to project teams.
Work with stakeholders to agree scope, critical success factors, outcomes and benefits of key projects, analysing options and the impact of trade-offs and decisions.
Oversee the application of project controls, evaluate their effectiveness and manage escalated high level risks, issues, changes and interdependencies between projects. Ensure projects expenditure (or activity) is tracked, reconciled to budget, with a forecast to complete or value returned to inform decision making.
Approvals, Governance and Benefits
Set up and contribute to governance forums e.g. Steering Group, project boards, product direction groups etc. Provide management information to senior skateholders and other relevant governance forums.
WHAT DOES IT TAKE ?
APM or MSP (Practitioner) Extensive experience of project delivery in complex organisations
Considerable experience in using Microsoft office as well as core project management and collaboration tools such as Miro, [redacted] and MS Project.
Expert knowledge of the project life cycle including its products, techniques, appropriate methodologies and techniques for delivery.
Experienced in developing business cases and supporting delivery plans.
Knowledge of relevant legislation and procedures for the domain.
For example: procurement, contract management, environment, and health and safety.
