Dealing With Anxiety About Yourself & Your Creative Journey/Process? Read Nicole Asinugo & Mab Graves Thoughts

“Being an artist can feel like being on the edge of a glass. It’s so beautiful and bright and painful. You give so much of yourself that sometimes you feel like you are walking around hollow – it’s all on the canvas and once it’s out there, it gains a life of its own. It’s vulnerable.” Mab Graves on Anxiety

Sometimes we wake up feeling bold and courageous. But other times, we wake up with Severe-Acute-Chronic anxiety and fear. This morning I woke up with so much anxiety in my heart and tension in my body, after meditating, I got up to do my work, which led me into stumbling on these really encouraging Instagram posts that tell me that I’m not alone.
So if you are having a rough period or stewing in insecurity or fear, this is for you.

Being an artist can feel like being on the edge of glass. It’s so beautiful and bright and painful. You give so much of yourself that sometimes you feel like you are walking around hollow – it’s all on the canvas and once it’s out there, it gains a life of its own. It’s vulnerable. It’s there for people to love or to hate. It’s you and it’s so much more than you. It’s everyone who views it. Their stories and experiences morph new meanings and new levels of emotions to the work. It’s beautiful and sometimes it can be scary. Being an artist is sharing every bit of yourself and that takes a massive amount of courage and an insanely foolish amount of love. I met so many incredibly beautiful, brave, flawed and perfect humans this weekend and my heart is so full in every way. This is a job that by its very nature leaves you fragile…thank you to all the hearts and arms that held us this weekend and reminded us why it’s worth it. You are each a vital part of this community. Thank you for loving and protecting your artists. 📸by @laurencetheprince after I cried off all my makeup 😭💕
