The Musical Sisterhood of Kate, Emilie, Madeleine and Lydia of Ley Line Sound

From Brazilian forró to Spanish healing songs, Swahili gospel to French alt-pop. Ley Line is a multilingual folk and soul band from Austin Texas. Through vocal harmonies, upright bass, guitar, ukulele, and percussion, their influences draw from international folklore music from North and South America.
Serendipity brought together Kate Robberson, Emilie Basez, Madeleine and Lydia Froncek in Durango, Colorado. An adventure to some remote hot springs on the Piedra River solidified a musical sisterhood that would take a hiatus until November of 2014. Kate and Emilie returned from Brazil to their hometown, Austin, Texas, with the exciting news that Maddy would also be moving to Austin. Within three months, Seth Gibbs (Superpop Records) warmly welcomed the ladies to his studio to record their full-length album.
From festivals to farmers markets, front porches to yoga studios, Ley Line shares their sound with a wide variety of audiences; imagine Devendra Banhart and Feist had four love children who grew up climbing trees and listening to Paul Simon and Sam Cooke.

Listen to Ley Line’s softly electrical album, Field Notes. It’s absolutely beautiful!
