An exciting opportunity for an artistic, enthusiastic individual to join the Creative Design Team within the Royal Cornwall Hospitals’ Communication Team and earn while you learn.

This is a three-year, degree level apprenticeship programme (starting January 2024) which will lead to a permanent Band 3/4 Creative Design Assistant role.

You will report to the Creative Lead (senior graphic designer) and support the delivery of graphic design and photographic projects.

Our Creative Team has a growing workload and provides graphic design support across our three hospitals with over 6,000+ staff. You will be working on corporate campaigns, as well as bespoke materials for individual services and teams. There will be lots of opportunity to use your flare to create stand-out design.

This is a full-time post of 37.5 hours a week. A proportion of time will be spent with a training provider, studying for Level 6 Graphic Design Apprenticeship.

Work as part of the team to develop creative internal and external campaigns.

Develop creative content in a wide variety of formats (digital / multimedia / print).

Creating and amending a wide range of artwork and materials (including but not limited to stationery, forms, brochures, leaflets, posters, social media images and digital content).

Use your photographic skills to help us build our image library.

Administer the online job request and workflow process for the creative team.

Providing day-to-day support for the team with any requests for design.

Working with external suppliers to source quotes for production of materials.

Making sure all content adheres to RCHT and NHS brand guidelines.

Contribute to reports and other evaluation activity.

Provide design support events and conferences.

Producing creative design outputs in a broad range of media.

Contribute fresh ideas and and creative input consistent with the RCHT style and identity.

Interpreting data and presenting it in a clear and accessible format appropriate to the intended audience.

Ensuring graphic design outputs intended for online audiences meet Accessibility legislation

Managing and prioritising own workload to ensure deadlines are met.

Working collaboratively with multiple departments and other communication team members to launch projects

Using feedback and recommendations from others to enhance career development

To act as an ambassador for the department and promote its services.

Support RCHT by attending career events to promote apprenticeships

To undertake statutory training as required in accordance with Health and Safety regulations and RCHT policies.

To ensure security in the work environment is maintained, locking doors and windows, challenging unknown persons who enter the work area.

Be responsible for reporting faults in office equipment to the appropriate contact points.

To contribute to helping us to continually improve our service and make it more efficient.

To complete the apprenticeship within the agreed timescales

Any other duties as deemed appropriate by senior staff.
